Não se pode falar de grandes personalidades femininas da história sem lembrar de Marie Skłodowska-Curie (1867-1934), física e química polonesa naturalizada francesa. Ela fez pesquisas pioneiras sobre radioatividade e foi a primeira mulher a ganhar o Prêmio Nobel e a única pessoa a receber a premiação em duas áreas diferentes – Física, em 1903, e Química, em 1911.
